our story

As our name implies our story was born from first principles thinking as it applies to our clients' and athletes' health needs. The system developed by head coach and movement & nutrition specialist Sebastian Hagemeyer attempts to redefine the practice of health and fitness in today's culture. During his work with clients and athletes alike over the past decade he discovered many misconceptions of health and well-being as well as a need for better fitness practices. The system approaches creating a practice of wellness by addressing the four pillars of the EXOS system Mindset, Nutrition, Movement, and Recovery to understand each client's individual needs and address them as an integrated process to achieve overall wellness. By incorporating an approach of testing for baseline health and movement practices we can discover modifiable variables in each client's current lifestyle and recommend corrective strategies to optimize their physical health. Our mission is to unearth these modifiable variables and implement corrective practices to optimize health.

Meet Sebastian

Sebastian Hagemeyer, Owner/CEO/Head Coach

With over a decade in the fitness industry, Sebastian specializes in providing every client with the same attention to detail that a professional athlete would receive through customized training solutions to fit your goals. His high-energy direct approach is mixed with a dose of humor to ensure you’re never bored and always on your toes. He’s also a firm believer that, “in this life we’re all athletes in one way or another, that every day is game day, and we need to be prepared.” 

Sebastian has always been driven to serve his greater community. In previous careers, he was a licensed EMT, a volunteer fireman, and later enlisted to fulfill his dream to become a Navy Seal. Unfortunately, during preliminary training in the Navy, he suffered severe injuries that forced him to abruptly quit—resulting in a broken dream (and hamstring). Today, Sebastian is focused on combining the skills acquired in his work as an athletic coach as well as the principles developed from his service in the medical field and US Navy to ensure others find their way back from an injury just as he did—but more importantly, preventing them.

Outside of the studio, Sebastian currently lives in San Francisco’s Sunset District where he enjoys spending time with his friends and family—participating in a range of outdoor activities that include; surfing, hiking, hunting, mountain biking, camping, snowboarding, turning over ATVs, and getting his 4Runner stuck in the mud - along with competing in various sporting events and races. He also knows all the words to every Taylor Swift song and whose dream vacation could be summed up by iterating any of the 5 Rambo movies.
